Meet this week’s Teacher Feature…
Name: Rich Barry
Teach: Year 2
Years teaching: 3
Years running: 5
Favourite distance to run: Half marathon
A few years back, I head out the door after a day of studying. I ran 1.5 miles and turned around, nothing special. But, that’s when it all started. I wanted more. I began to head out 3-4 times a week to get that runners high. Before long, I set myself a target of running 5km in under 20 minutes. A few weeks of running the same route over and over, pushing myself through mental and physical barriers, with no real training plan, I did it! 19:40 . That was just the start of it.
“myself and several colleagues will be running the Moscow Half Marathon in order to raise money for one of our students that requires a heart transplant”
Now, I run weekly with colleagues from school, and I am also part of an awesome movement, with a massive thanks to Dan Chaplen and the TeachersRunClub. Is great to be apart of the community and to share the positive energy it provides.
On a final note, on May 16th 2021, myself and several colleagues will be running the Moscow Half Marathon in order to raise money for one of our students that requires a heart transplant in the next 5 months. Please see the link below for more details.
