Category: Park Run
Event name & organiser: Houghton Hall Park Run
Event location: Houghton Hall, Central Bedfordshire
Event distance: 5km
Terrain: A 2 and a half lap route across mixed terrain. Most of the route is on a concrete path that trails around the park. There is a shorter off road section through the woods that is fairly narrow with exposed tree stumps and roots so watch your footing.
This is a flat parkrun, and with a lot of it on the path it’s a great place to go for a PB. If it’s been dry then road shoes are fine for this run.
Would you say the event was good value for money? You can’t get better value than ParkRun, there is also limited free parking.
What tips would you give to others before they take on this event? Arrive early to secure a parking spot, there is a great little cafe with toilets that is open before the run starts. There is also a small play area to keep the children happy whilst you’re running.
Would you take part in this event again? Yes.
Anything else you would like to say about the event? One section of the route that you will run down 3 times leaves the perimeter of the park, there is a bike trap to navigate but the marshals do a great job of keeping this safe. If you listen carefully you will hear the resident woodpecker!
