Category: Run
Event name: Brighton Marathon
Event location: Brighton, England
Event distance: 42km/26.2miles (plus an extra 500m!)
Terrain: Mainly flat, but 3 or 4 slight gradients spread out across the course
Would you say the event was good value for money? Because I managed to get a charity place for £20, definitely. If you pay the full price ensure you go for the whole weekend to enjoy the Expo and the city beforehand.
What tips would you give to others before they take on this event?
- I used the Racecourse park and ride, which is a quite bus ride to the start and collection at the finish.
- This year had staggered starting times, and I was there quite early, so lots of hanging around.
- No ‘official’ bag drop off this year due to Covid, so had to run with what I brought, but I was really glad to have my hydration pack with me because it was a warm day.
- If you don’t have any supporters with you (like me) make sure you write your name on your number so the crowds can shout your name for encouragement. I was running for YMCA, so I had that sung at me at regular intervals!
Would you take part in this event again? Absolutely! It’s a great course, and it felt like most of the City were out that morning. I also want to try and hit a target time!
